 Valley of Flowers- A Rainbow Heaven in Uttarakhand

In case you believe that heaven is a fictional place, then you must come to Valley of Flowers Uttarakhand. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and nature is in all its colours. Wild flowers, the snowy Himalayas in the background and the beauty of this place make the scene that cannot be called anything other than a postcard.



Location of the Valley of Flowers and Ideal Time to Visit The Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is home to the Valley of Flowers National Park. It is a part of the Biosphere Reserve of Nanda Devi. In order to reach here, you must come to Govindghat, either by coming out of Rishikesh, Haridwar or Dehradun. Thereafter we can approach the valley by trek.

Monsoon season (July to September) is best time to visit Valley of Flowers. This is the period when valley is covered with flowers in abundance of over 600 species such as blue poppy, Himalayan bell, brahma kamal and orchids. The entire valley turns into a carpet of rainbow.



Flowers of the Valley Treks


Valley of Flowers trek is an experience of lifetime to all adventure lovers. At Govindghat you must drive to Pulna, and then trek 13 km to Ghangaria. Valley of flowers is 4-5 km trek away from Ghangaria. This is a moderate difficulty trek, which can even be attempted by a novice.

The sights of waterfalls, green meadows, and glaciers on the path of the trekking trail will only keep you in awe. This is a dream trek to people who love nature and photography.

Valley of Flowers Travel Advice


Do not forget to take a raincoat, comfortable trekking shoes because it is always raining during monsoon.


Accommodation is scarce in Ghangaria so advance booking would be advised.


Staying or camping in the valley is prohibited. By evening you must be back in Ghangaria.


Be physically fit early on because endurance is a trekking factor.
